The shelving can also be made longer, if you choose. Just add a few more boards to the back and adjust the length of the shelves. It’s really that easy!

  • 3 – 2×6 at 6′
  • 1 – 2×8 at 8′

Cut List:

  • 3 – 2×6 at 63″ – Back
  • 5 – 2×8 at 16-1/2″ – Shelves

Notes About the Project:

  • Sand all pieces before assembly
  • Spray paint the brackets, if desired!

Step One

Cut the pieces for the back. Drill pocket holes in two of the boards (as shown) and join the boards using glue and 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws. Mark the position of the shelves and draw placement lines on the front and the back. Drill countersunk pilot holes for the shelves from the back.

Step Two

Cut the pieces for the shelves. Secure to the back using glue and 3″ countersunk screws. For extra stability, add two metal angle brackets under each shelf (more if the shelf length is adjusted!).

Finish as desired.

The spacing between the shelves can be adjusted, too, to accommodate books or taller items. This would also be a great way to store towels in the bathroom or blankets in other rooms. What would you use it for?
