DIY Plans to Build a Westport Coffee Table-Copy

Materials:

  • 3/4″ screws
  • 2″ screws
  • 3″ screws
  • 4″ casters (<– affiliate link!)
  • Wood glue
  • Sandpaper (100, 150, 220 grits)
  • Finishing supplies (primer & paint, or stain, sealer)

Lumber:

  • 14 – 1×4 at 4′
  • 3 – 2×4 at 8′

Cut List:

  • 6 – 2×4 at 24″ – Frame Assembly
  • 6 – 2×4 at 8-1/2″ – Frame Assembly
  • 6 – 2×4 at 13-3/16″ – Frame Assembly
  • 10 – 1×4 at 47″ – Top & Bottom Planks
  • 4 – 1×4 (ripped to 3-1/4″ wide) at 47″ – Top & Bottom End Planks

Step One

Cut the pieces for the frame assemblies. Assemble the outer frames as shown using glue and countersunk 3″ screws.

Step Two

Cut the pieces for the angled frame assembly pieces. Cut the angles as shown using a jigsaw, bandsaw, or miter saw. Position the pieces inside the outer frames as shown securing in place using glue and 2″ screws.

Step Three

Cut the pieces for the top and bottom planks. Secure the planks to the top and bottom of the frame assemblies using glue and countersunk 2″ screws. Note that the planks on the outer edges of both sides are narrower (3-1/4″ wide) than the other planks.

Step Four

Secure the casters to the bottom (in a desired position) using 3/4″ screws.

Thoroughly sand and finish as desired.
