Step One
Cut the pieces for the legs. With the pocket hole jig set for 1-1/2″ material, drill pocket holes in one long edge of each 2×4 piece. Position the 2×4 leg on the 2×6 leg as shown, the secure using glue and 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws.
Step Two
Cut the pieces for the stretchers and drill pocket holes in each end, as well as one long edge (to attach the top) of each piece. Secure to each leg assembly using glue and 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws. Make sure the legs are positioned so that there is a right and a left!
Step Three
Cut the pieces for the shelf supports. Drill two countersunk holes in each end of each piece. Secure the longer pieces to the legs first using glue and 2-1/2″ screws, then secure the shorter pieces.
Step Four
Cut the pieces for the shelf. Drill two countersunk holes in each end of each piece. The 2×4 pieces will be positioned on the ends with the 2×6 pieces in the center. Secure the pieces using glue and 2-1/2″ screws through the shelf pieces into the supports.
Step Five
Cut the pieces for the top supports and drill pocket holes in each end, as well as one long edge of each piece. Secure to the longer stretchers as shown using glue and 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws.
Step Six
Cut the pieces for the top. Drill pocket holes in each end of the longer pieces. Assemble the top as shown using glue and 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws. Position the top with 1/2″ overlapping each side, then secure using glue and 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws from the underside.
Finish as desired!
