Notes About the Project:
If using edge banding, it will be applied to the exposed edges of the plywood before assembly.
Step One
Cut the pieces for the legs and the side panels. With the pocket hole jig set for 3/4″ material, drill pocket holes in each longer edge of the panels. Secure to the legs using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws. The back face of the panels will be flush with the inside face of the legs.
Step Two
Cut the piece for the back panel and drill pocket holes along each longer edge. Secure to the legs using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws. The back face of the panel will be flush with the outside face of the legs.
Step Three
Cut the pieces for the lower shelves and drill pocket holes in the side and back edges. Secure in the cabinet using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws. The bottom of the lowest shelf will be flush with the bottom edges of the back and side panels. It may be easier to start with the highest shelf and work down!
Step Four
Cut the piece for the stretcher and drill pocket holes in each end. Secure to the front legs using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws.
Step Five
Cut the piece for the upper shelf and drill pocket holes in the side and back edges. Position the shelf so it is 1-1/4″ back from the front face of the front legs, then secure using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws.
Step Six
Cut the pieces for the cradle. It is easier to cut one piece and mark the position for the holes, cut the holes using a hole saw, then rip the board in half on the table saw. A jigsaw to cut the curves can also be used – just do what works! Mark the position for the cradles then secure as shown using glue and 1-1/4″ brad nails from the outside of the side panels.
Step Seven
Cut the piece for the top. Position the top so that the front and sides overhang by 1/2″. Secure using glue and 1-1/4″ brad nails.
Step Eight
Cut the pieces for the drawer boxes. Drill pocket holes in all four edges of the bottom as well as each end of the sides. Assemble the drawer box as shown using glue and 1-1/4” pocket hole screws.
Step Nine
Cut the pieces for the door frame. Drill pocket holes in each end of the shorter pieces, then assemble the door using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws. Install the hinges on the door, then install the door in the cabinet.
Finish as desired! Apply a coat of past wax to the bottom of each drawer to help it slide smoothly on each shelf. Position the glass on the inside of the door, then secure with glass clips or turnbuttons. Install the cabinet pulls on the door and drawers.
