DIY Tura Coffee Table – A Full Guide With Free Plans

I like this coffee table… The free plans to build a Tura Coffee Table have a drawer to hide the remotes and other assorted goodies (like lip balm, lotion, and snacks) from assorted four-legged furry friends who like to run off with them! Also, the top is like a blank canvas that can be decorated however your heart desires!

Materials:

• 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws
• 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws
• 1-1/4″ brad nails
• One set of 14″ drawer slides (<– affiliate link!)
• Finishing supplies

Lumber:

• 1 – 1×3 at 6′
• 2 – 1×4 at 8′
• 1 – 2×2 at 8′
• 1 – quarter sheet of 3/4″ plywood
• 1 – 2′ x 2′ sheet of 3/4″ plywood

Cut List:

• 4 – 2×2 at 20-1/4″ – Legs
• 2 – 1×4 at 14″ – Side Frame
• 2 – 2×2 at 14″ – Side Frame
• 1 – 1×4 at 44″ – Back Frame
• 2 – 1×4 at 8-3/4″ – Front Apron
• 2 – 1×4 at 15-1/2″ – Drawer Supports
• 1 – 3/4″ plywood at 17″ x 47″ – Top
• 1 – 3/4″ plywood at 13-1/4″ x 24″ – Drawer Bottom
• 2 – 1×3 at 13-1/4″ – Drawer Sides
• 1 – 1×3 at 25-1/2″ – Drawer Back
• 1 – 1×4 (ripped to 3-3/8″ wide) at 26-1/4″ – Drawer Front

 

Step One

Cut the pieces for the legs and side frames. Drill pocket holes in each end of the frame pieces. Use glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws to secure the upper frame piece to the legs, and glue and 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws to secure the lower frame piece to the legs. Orient the pocket holes in the lower piece so they face down and won’t have to be filled!

Step Two

Cut the piece for the back apron and drill pocket holes in each end. Secure the apron to the legs using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws.

Step Three

Cut the pieces for the front aprons and the drawer spacers. Drill pocket holes in one end only of the front apron piece, as well as each end of the drawer supports. Assemble the pieces to form two “L” sheets using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws. Attach each assembly to the legs and back as shown using glue and 1-1/4″pocket hole screws.

Step Four

Cut the piece for the top and secure to the frame using glue and 1-1/4″ brad nails.

Step Five

Cut the pieces for the drawers. Drill pocket holes in each end of the side pieces as well as all four edges of the bottom. Assemble as shown using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws. The fronts will overlap the drawer box by 3/8″ on each side.

Install the drawer slides according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This easy tutorial on installing drawer slides will be helpful! Make any necessary adjustments.
Finish as desired!
