Easy to Build Barstools for a Kitchen Island
Hey there! Remember when I shared the plans for the Napa Style Inspired New American Barnwood Island and the regular Barnwood Island? Well, I promised to also give you the free plans to build the Napa Style inspired American Barnwood Stools to go with them! So, here they are! Enjoy!
Materials:
- 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws
- 1-1/4″ brad nails (<– affiliate link!)
- Wood glue
- Sandpaper
- Finishing Supplies
Lumber:
Material for ONE stool–
- 2 – 2×2 at 8′
- 3/4″ plywood at 14″ x 14″
Cut List:
- 4 – 2×2 at 29-1/4″ – Legs
- 8 – 2×2 at 9″ – Stretchers
- 1 – 3/4″ plywood at 14″ x 14″ – Seat

Step One
Cut the pieces for the legs and the stretchers. Drill pocket holes in each end of the stretchers. Position as shown then secure using glue and 2-1/2″ pocket hole screws. Orient the pocket holes so they are facing down – then they won’t have to be filled!
Step Two
Cut the piece for the seat. Position it so that 1″ overlaps each side of the frame then secure using glue and 1-1/4″ brad nails.
Finish as desired!
