Notes: Each of the tables are constructed in the same manner therefore assembly for one table is shown.
Step One
Cut the pieces for the side frames. If using pocket holes to assemble the table, drill them in each mitered edge of the vertical side pieces. Assemble the side frames using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws.
If using a biscuit joiner, cut the slots in each mitered end of each piece. Apply glue to the slots in each end of the vertical pieces and insert the biscuits. Apply glue to the slots of each end of the horizontal frame pieces and assemble the frame. Use a regular clamps or a picture frame clamp to keep everything square until the glue is dry.
Step Two
Cut the pieces for the back frame.
Once the glue is dry, secure the side frames to each side edge of the back frame using glue and 1-3/4″ brad nails.
Step Three
Cut the pieces for the top frame.
If using pocket holes to assemble the table, drill them in each mitered edge of the vertical side pieces. Assemble the side frames using glue and 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws.
If using a biscuit joiner, cut the slots in each mitered end of each piece. Apply glue to the slots in each end of the longer pieces and insert the biscuits. Apply glue to the slots of each end of the shorter frame pieces and assemble the frame. Use a regular clamps or a picture frame clamp to keep everything square until the glue is dry.
Once the glue is dry, secure the top frame to each top edge of the side and back frames using glue and 1-3/4″ brad nails.
Step Four
Cut the Plexiglas to fit the top of each table. The tops can be screwed in place (with pre-drilled holes) or clear bumpers can be adhered to the bottom of the Plexiglas to sort of hold the tops in place.
Finish the table frames as desired.
For outdoor use, the DIY nesting table frames will have to be constructed from treated lumber or cedar. Have any questions about the DIY furniture plans to build the Hanover Nesting Tables? Leave a comment below!
