A Super-Duper EASY Coffee Table to Build
This is the perfectly quick and easy project to build before the holidays so you can showcase your awesome building skills… The plans to build a Fairhaven Coffee Table features framed legs with a solid top constructed from plywood. The materials are straight off-the-shelf boards making this a project that can be finished in a flash!
Materials:
- 1-1/4” brad nails
- 2” screws
- 3” screws
- Edge banding, optional (<– affiliate link!)
- Wood glue
- Sandpaper (100, 150, 220 grits)
- Finishing supplies (primer & paint, or stain, sealer)
Lumber:
- 1 – 1×2 at 4’
- 1 – 1×2 at 6’
- 2 – 2×2 at 8’
- 1 half sheet of ¾” plywood
Cut List:
- 4 – 2×2 at 18-1/4” – Legs
- 2 – 2×2 at 18-1/2” – Sides
- 2 – 2×4 at 18-1/2” – Sides
- 2 – 2×2 at 21-1/2” – Frame
- 2 – 1×2 at 39-1/2” – Frame
- 1 – 1×2 at 21-1/2” – Center Support
- 1 – ¾” plywood at 25” x 41-1/2” – Top

Edge banding will be applied to the exposed edges of the plywood prior to assembly.
Step One
Cut the pieces for the legs and the sides. Assemble the side frames as shown using glue and countersunk 3” screws.
Step Two
Cut the pieces for the frame. Secure the 2×2 pieces to the side frames using glue and countersunk 3” screws. Secure the 1×2 pieces to the ends of the 2×2 pieces as well as the side frames using glue and countersunk 2” screws.
Step Three
Cut the 1×2 piece for the center support. Secure to the 1×2 frame pieces as shown using countersunk 2” screws.
Step Four
Cut the piece for the top. Spread glue on the top of the frame and sides. Position the top so that it overhangs the frame by 1” on all sides. Secure in place using 1-1/4” brad nails.
Fill the holes and finish as desired.
