Build an Ashworth Nightstand

A Beautiful Nightstand to Build

I just have to say, I absolutely adore Pier One (remember when I shared the plans to Build a Caddy Inspired by a Magazine Holder?). The only little issue I have with the store is that some of their furniture is made with lower quality materials and can be quite pricey. But you know what? That actually makes them perfect for some fun and affordable DIY projects! On a positive note, they have some truly amazing furniture collections that have sparked my creativity and inspired me to come up with some new furniture plans.

Notes about the project:

If using edge banding, it should be applied to the exposed edges of the plywood before assembly. Use glue at all joints in addition to the screws.

Step Seven

Cut the pieces for the smaller drawer boxes. If using the pocket hole method, drill pocket holes in all four edges of each drawer bottom, as well as the shorter edges of the sides. Attach the sides to the bottom, then attach the front and back.

If using the countersunk screw method, drill holes at the lower edge of the sides, as well as the side and bottom edges of the front and back. Attach the sides to the bottom, then attach the front and back.

Install the drawer slide hardware according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Check out this easy tutorial on attaching drawer slides. Make any necessary adjustments.

The drawers can also be assembled using a brad nailer and 1-1/4″ brad nails.
