Collection DIY Plans to Build Planter Boxes

Now that spring has arrived, it is time to start thinking about gardens and curb appeal! I’ve put together a collection of DIY plans to build planter boxes in a variety of different styles – some use new materials and some use repurposed materials. I am sure there is something that will appeal to all styles and skill levels!

The Alicia Planter Box

This pretty planter box is on legs with a shelf below. The leg posts have a decorative top cut into them, as well. The Alicia Planter Box is a very easy build and would look lovely left natural or painted!

Robin’s Planter Boxes

My sweet cousin contacted me and asked me to design a planter box for her deck. Robin’s Planter Boxes are large and deep, and would look fabulous flanking a bench!

Turn a Chair into a Planter

I had this fabulous chair with a damaged seat. I removed the seat and added a cedar board I cut to fit, and turned this chair into a planter! I’m proud to say that the chair is still a vibrant red even after two years in the elements!

French Flower Boxes

I am so excited to incorporate these French inspired flower boxes into my outdoor decor this year! The boxes are made using cedar, with a white-washed paint and ink graphics on the front. The boxes have a wire mesh bottom for drainage and weed cloth to keep the soil from falling out!

Using Old Drawers as Planters

I saw the idea for these old drawer planters on Pinterest. I replaced the existing drawer box with a new cedar box, then used the original drawer front.
