A Collection of DIY Plans to Build Dining Chairs
Every time I post a chair plan, I always gush about how much I love building chairs! They are are easy to build, quick to complete, and can be finished in so many different ways. I’ve compiled a collection of DIY plans to build dining chairs including a few of my favorites, and hopefully it will inspire a few to give it a try.
The Natalie Chair
The Natalie Chair is a cute little chair with a low back and kerf detail on the lower end of the legs. This is the perfect chair for a vanity or desk, or maybe even around a dining table. The back legs are cut in one piece which is totally doable on a bandsaw or with a jigsaw.
I built this dining chair bench for my mom after seeing it in a catalog. The only difference is that I didn’t take three old chairs and slap a seat on them – I built each chair frame (plans for each frame are included!). My mom loves it and won’t let anyone sit on it… It would be an excellent addition to an entryway or a dining table in addition to the matching individual chairs!
The Farthingale Chair
The Farthingale Chair is one of the first chair plans I drew for DbSC. The back legs are cut in two pieces (which are very sturdy and secure), and the chair has upholstery detail on the back and seat. This would be a fabulous chair to use anywhere in any room!
The Tradesman Chair
The Tradesman Chair also features two piece legs – all of the leg pieces are tapered which makes this chair a somewhat elegant piece. The back is plain and is the perfect surface for a stencil! This chair would be an excellent addition to an outdoor setting if built with materials suitable for the outdoors!
The Holly Chair
The Holly Chair is one of my favorites… I love the inset detail on the aprons – a detail that inspired an entire collection of furniture pieces (enter “Holly” in the search bar on the right!). This chair is another easy-to-build and quick-to-finish plan!
There are tons of other chair plans on the site – enter “chair” in the search bar to find many more sure to fit any style! Have any questions about the collection of DIY plans to build dining chairs? Leave a comment below!
